Silvassa: A minor girl studying in a Madrasa hostel in Silvassa, Dadra Nagar Haveli, has accused Madrasa Maulvi of raping her in a hostel itself. After receiving the complaint, the police arrested the accused maulvi, Sheikh Mohammad Tariq, under the POSCO Act. The victim is 17 years old. On the other hand, the maulvi's wife has declared her husband innocent. Maulvi's wife says that if the allegations are proved, she will get divorced from her husband.
According to media reports, the student used to stay in a Madrasa hostel and study. Meanwhile, the maulvi threatened her and raped her. The student called her family on the pretext of illness and called them to the madrasa. After the family arrived, she narrated the whole ordeal. The family members lodged a complaint with the police after which the police conducted a medical examination of the victim. The maulvi was arrested after the report confirmed the rape.
The family members of the victim have demanded strict action against the maulvi after the incident. Similarly, after the incident came to light, it is also feared that the Maulvi has not sexually abused other girls of the hostel as well. Usually, such incidents are suppressed due to public shame.
