Mumbai: On the occasion of Janmashtami, the Dahi Handi festival is celebrated with full joy and enthusiasm in Mumbai. The festival of happiness of the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated by people of all religions in Mumbai together. Amidst all this, Mumbai's Fakhruddin is getting the most buzz. Fakhruddin takes his children on this day every year and goes out with the yoghurt Handi Fodne Govinda Pathaks.
In Mumbai, the extremely traditional way of breaking the curd handi was a fascinating sight. In the Thakur Dwar area of South Mumbai, a festival of Dahi handi bursting was organised by the locals. In addition, Shiv Sena has put up banners in Dadar that this time the money of Dahi Handi will be given to help the flood victims. Today, on Saturday, more than 1500 Govinda Pathak Mandals, including Mumbai, Thane will boil over 3000 thousand curds.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police is fully prepared to deal with any untoward incident. Around 40,000 police forces will be stationed across the metropolitan city. Medical safety has also been provided.
