With the onset of Unlock 4, permission has been granted to road transport to operate but state-wise the permissions vary. As per the Unlock 4 guidelines, state borders of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were cleared up but the people of both the states await the resumption of inter-state bus facilities. The reason for the delay is that the respective state transport corporations are at loggerheads over operating the inter-state bus services. Thousands, if not lakhs, of people in the two states, remain without a public transport option as the two states are locked in a stalemate over roads.

The productive Vijayawada-Hyderabad sector has become the main bone of competition between the two Telugu states as Telangana is reportedly asserting that Andhra foregoes the profitable route methods. Though it does not maintain an adequate number of buses to meet the passenger demand on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad sector, Telangana is said to be resolute on monopolizing it. Telangana is of the thought that its limited services to Vijayawada from Hyderabad are sparsely patronized, causing a loss to its Road Transport Corporation.

As two rounds of talks so far between officials concerned of the states did not break the impasse, they are now banking on a possible political interference to end the scuffle and get the buses back on the roads. AP Transport Minister Perni Venkataramaiah is expected to open colloquies on Monday to resolve the ongoing crisis and ensure that bus services between the states are continued at the earliest, domineering sources were quoted saying.
