New Delhi: India is the largest milk-producing country in the world. But the situation of milk producers here is quite bad. The co-operative dairy industry has been in a crisis due to rising cost of production and inadequate pricing from the market. Cattle farmers have also faced difficulties for their livelihood. The Dairy Cooperative Union has requested the Central Government for assistance in this regard. Their difficulties have increased due to non-receipt of proper subsidy to cooperative unions striving towards milk processing.
Ramchandra Chaudhary, chairman of the Rajasthan Cooperative Producers Dairy Association, has met Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar and Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Giriraj Singh and expressed their problems to him, expressing strong displeasure over the step dealing with cattle rearing. Speaking to the media, Ramchandra Chaudhary said, "To encourage the dairy industry, the most attention will be given to the processing of milk and the encouragement of farmers."
Chaudhary expressed surprise that the subsidy owed by the government many times more money than the government has provided for the dairy industry in its budget. In the cooperative dairy sector, many projects are pending due to lack of support for milk processing. Cooperatives are in crisis, which need immediate relief. Let us tell you that the central government considers livestock to be important for doubling the income of farmers. Milk farmers in the country have demonstrated several times over prices.
