New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held an important meeting with the CEOs of public banks (CMC) on Monday. Sitharaman said after the meeting that the banks had sufficient cash and things were going well. Amid signs of sluggishness in the economy, the Finance Minister said, "We have asked banks to provide bill discounting facility for MSMEs to ensure the availability of money to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) industries".

Sitharaman said that, according to the return filing of the big companies, they have 40 thousand crore rupees left in the MSME sector. Every effort will be made to get MSME paid before Diwali. Efforts are being made to ensure that MSME can continue to pay arrears to large companies. This is Sitharaman's second meeting with the CEOs of public banks in less than a month.

The Finance Ministry has said on Monday that the public sector banks have given a loan of Rs 81,781 crore during the loan fair from October 1 to October 9. According to Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar, out of this, there were new loans amounting to 34,342 crores. On the other hand, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said at the India Energy Forum's Seraviq conference on Monday that the investment environment will be made favourable.
