Damoh: Polling was held for the Bye-election to the Damoh Assembly on April 17 amid the Corona crisis in Madhya Pradesh. This was followed by counting of votes for the assembly by-election last Sunday, May 2. Let me tell all of you that the Congress has won the Damoh by-election. Yes, this time the BJP has suffered a big setback. Congress candidate Ajay Tandon has defeated BJP's Rahul Lodhi. BJP candidate Rahul Lodhi has lost here. Congress candidate Ajay Tandon, who is pitted against him, has won. In fact, Ajay Tandon defeated Rahul Lodhi by 17089 votes. Congress candidate Ajay Singh Tandon got 206 votes while Rahul Singh lost booths in his own village by just 108 votes, 98 votes here.

After losing, BJP's Rahul Singh Lodhi has blamed former minister Jayant Malaiya for the defeat, saying, "Former minister lost because of Malaiya. Congress' Ajay Tandon was congratulated by many on his victory in the Damoh by-election. The list included former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Union Minister Prahlad Patel and several other leaders".
