The third seeded Russian Daniil Medvedev won the Paris Masters for the first time beating the fourth seeded German Alexander Zverev 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 for his eighth career title and third at a Masters event. This is Medvedev second victory against Zverev, the first one was at Masters final last year in Shanghai.
The battle between first-time finalists here and the last two U.S. Open runners-up went with serve and with no break points until Zverev broke Medvedev in the 12th game to take the opening set. The players could meet again at the season-ending ATP Finals in London from Nov. 15-22. Zverev was confident of his win with that he can claim Paris masters title for the third successive year. Medvedev prevailed 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 against Zverev.
"As I always say I don't celebrate after the match, but I'm really happy to win matches. Before the tournament, I was not in my best form, playing not so bad but zero titles in 2020," the winner shared after his victory. Both players will now turn their attentions to the ATP Tour Finals in London, an event won by Zverev in 2018.
