New Delhi: Daughters of two Army officers have approached theSupreme Court seeking formulation of a policy to protect human rights of security forces personnel and for defence forces personnel from unruly mobs in Jammu and Kashmir while they are performing their duties.

According to the reports, the two girls approached the apex court seeking notices to the Central as well as Jammu and Kashmir governments for ensuring security of armed forces personnel deployed for duty in the J&K.

The plea of 19-year-old Preeti Kedar Gokhale and 20-year-old Kajal Mishra has sought the formulation of policy to protect the human rights of security personnel serving in Jammu and Kashmir. It may be noted that of late, the trend of stone pelting on security forces has picked up pace with the personnel also being attacked while they are engaged in encounter with terrorists. This is done to divert the forces attention and try and allow terrorists to flee.
In response to the pleam the top Court agreed to hear the matter and issued notices to the Centre as well as Jammu and Kashmir government.
The state is currently under President’s rule, with Governor Satya Pal Malik at the helm.
