End of Sentence. a short film featuring the real 'Padman' Arunachalam Muruganathan and the taboo of menstruation was announced the Best Documentary Short Subject award at the Oscars 2019. While producer Guneet Monga is very happy for this achievement and even Bollywood too has erupted with happiness given that it is not everyday that India brings in home an Oscar.

As soon as the announcement was made, Guneet took to Twitter and wrote, "WE WON!!! To every girl on this earth... know that you are a goddess... if heavens are listening... look MA we put @sikhya on the map." At the Oscars, director Rayka Zehtabchi and co-producer Melissa Berton couldn't stop themselves from exclaiming that a movie on "periods" actually won an Oscar.

The short film, set in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, based on taboos around menstruation, has been directed by Iranian American filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi. Film was a part of The Pad Project, initiated by Oakwood School students and their teacher Melissa Berton in Los Angeles.
During the acceptance speech, director said, “I'm not crying because I'm on my period or anything. I can't believe a film on menstruation won an Oscar”.
Talking about film, The 26-minute film follows girls and women in Hapur in northern India and their experience with the installation of a pad machine in their village.
