Australia visited India in 2019. Australia won the series 3–2 on this tour, which was also their first two matches of the series. Warner was not with the team on that tour as he was facing suspension due to a ball-tampering controversy. That is why Steve Smith was also not in that winning Australian team. Now that both are back, the Australian team is becoming very strong.

Team India has also started preparations for this. Currently, Team India is playing the T20 series with Sri Lanka. The first match of this 3-match series has been rain-ravaged, India has registered a stunning win in the second match, while the third and final match will be played in Pune on January 10, to decide the series winner.
