The Punjab government's restrictions to prevent the spread of covid infection are not showing any effect. A record 100 infected people lost their lives in the state due to infection on Tuesday as well. The condition of 83 infected persons remains even more critical. 5932 new cases of infection have been reported in 17 districts. 677 are facing difficulty breathing.
According to the Punjab Health Department, samples of 7054436 people have been collected in the state so far, out of which 351282 people have been reported positive. The good thing is that 290716 admitted to various hospitals in the state has recovered from health benefits. There are 51936 active cases. The 100 deaths on Tuesday include 17 in Amritsar, 1 in Barnala, 7 in Bathinda, 2 in Faridkot, 6 in Fazilka, 5 in Ferozepur, 7 in Hoshiarpur, 6 in Jalandhar, 4 in Kapurthala, 13 in Ludhiana, 1 in Mansa, 11 in Mohali, 3 in Muktsar, 1 in Pathankot, 9 in Patiala, 4 in SBS Nagar and 3 in Tarantaran.
Punjab orders closure of shops at 5 pm: It is learned that Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has issued a direction to impose night curfew from 6 pm to prevent covid infection. The Home Department on Tuesday said that all shops including malls and multiplex shops will be closed at 5 pm. However, home delivery has been continued till 9 pm.
A CM office spokesperson said that the Home Ministry has issued detailed orders on other corona-related restrictions imposed in the state till further orders. He said that the night curfew for non-essential activities every day will now be from 6 pm to 5 am as compared to 8 pm to 5 am earlier. According to reports, curfew is scheduled to remain from 5 am on Saturday to 5 am on Monday on the last days of the week (weekend). However, all necessary activities will be exempted during this period. The service industry, including all private offices, has been allowed to work from home.
