KIEV: The death toll in Russian strikes in Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia has surpassed to 23. At least 23 people have died and 115 others appealed for support, Ukrainska Pravda reported.
Two children are among the 64 individuals who have been injured and hospitalised. According to state emergency sources, of the injured, 34 are in serious condition and another five are in critical condition. Search and rescue efforts are underway after 39 persons went missing, police said.
On Thursday, Russian soldiers launched missiles into Vinnytsia's city centre, sparking a number of fires. According to the Air Force Command, the Russians attacked Vinnytsia with Kalibr missiles fired from a submarine in the Black Sea. Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, referred to this missile incident as a terrorist act.
The Ukrainian military reports that Russian forces are still launching frequent attacks into Eastern Ukraine, but the British Defense Ministry has questioned whether Russia has made any notable progress in the previous 72 hours.
In other news, following meetings on Wednesday in Istanbul, negotiations to open up grain exports from Ukraine are scheduled to continue next week. Next week, Russia and Ukraine will meet once more in Turkey in the hopes of concluding a deal.
President Volodymyr Zelenskky said, Ukraine is making every effort to continue supplying food to the international market. Russian warships have been obstructing Ukrainian ports on the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea for months, preventing the country's essential exports from leaving and causing a crisis in world food prices.
