SEOUL: The first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska made a strong plea for unwavering international support in her nation's fight against Russian aggression on Thursday, emphasising that the protracted conflict affects "democratic principles of the entire globe."
Zelenska issued an impassioned message in an exclusive written interview with Yonhap news, warning against any complacency toward the war sparked by Russia's invasion on February 24.
"Do not grow used to the war," she said. The wife of President Volodymyr Zelensky stated, "I would want to emphasise that there is no room for a neutral posture in this war." You cannot brush it off as something far off and unimportant since this war puts not only Ukraine but also the global democratic values at peril. She continued by stating that Ukraine needs "everything," including humanitarian help, armaments, and support for its post-war reconstruction.
The interview came at a time when international concern seemed to have decreased compared to the early stages of the war, when everyone was keenly horrified by the largest combat on European territory since the end of World War II in 1945.
To emphasise the significance of media attention, Zelenska used the phrase "Indifference kills (people) indirectly." I want the media to cover Ukraine as much as possible and keep going, she said.
