Deepak Poonia has failed to overcome the strong defence of Kazakhstan's Azmat Daulatbekov and has to settle for a silver medal on the final day of the Asian Wrestling Championships. Vicky Chahar has also won a bronze medal in the freestyle 92kg category. He defeated Uzbekistan's Ajinaz Sapraniajov 5-3.

Deepak (86kg, freestyle), who is challenging for his first gold medal in the continental event, has made it to the final without losing any points. He first defeated Mohsen Mirussuf Moustafi Alanzag (6-0) of Iran and then Guanuk Kim (5-0) of Korea. This is also said to be Deepak's fourth medal at the Asian Championships. He also won a silver (2021) and two bronze (2019 and 2020) medals before that.

India has also won 17 medals in this continental competition. Ravi Dahiya was the only gold medalist to have also won a gold medal in the men's freestyle 57kg category. It was encouraging for the Greco-Roman wrestlers to win five medals. Mangal Kadyan lost 4-6 against Kyrgyzstan's Ulukbek Jholdoshbekov in the bronze medal bout of the 61kg category. Yash Tunir, however, lost the qualification round of the 74kg category by a close margin of 10-11 against Uzbekistan's Ikhtiyar. Aniruddha Kumar has lost 4-8 to Korea's Jung in the quarterfinals of the 125kg category.
