She spoke to the director of WHO and said, "I was suffering from mental illness in those days." She was struggling but she did not want to tell anyone about it.

Deepika further said, "People do not talk about depression and stress openly, but it should be treated like other diseases." During this, Deepika also mentioned an incident that happened to her which everyone was surprised to hear. She said," One day I fell down from my bed and there was no one at home. At that time my workmate came and took me to the doctor. I would wake up every morning and try to laugh and be happy, but eventually, I got depressed. My love and hate relationship has taught me a lot and I want to tell everyone who is suffering from it that you are not alone, the more time it takes me to get the award, the sooner someone in the world has caused depression. Must have committed suicide."
