After the success of Gully Boy, actor Ranveer Singh is gearing up for the sports drama film 83 and is playing the role of former cricketer Kapil Dev. Recently, Ranveer's wife Deepika Padukone has also joined the film team. At 83, Deepika is about to play the role of Kapil Dev's wife, Romi Dev, and now Deepika has explained the reason for choosing the role.
In an interview with Asian Age, Actress Deepika said, "It's not that I just want to role as my husband Ranveer Singh's onscreen wife so I've chosen this character. But the big reason behind this is that I have been able to connect this role to my real life experience that's why I have said yes to this role."
Deepika's father Prakash Padukone has been an iconic badminton player and that is why she understands the challenges and problems faced by the sportsperson's family and relationship. At the same time, she understands what it means to be a sportsman's wife and daughter. The shooting of the film continues in London these days and it will be released on April 10, 2020.
