New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is on a three-day visit to Ladakh from Sunday with the Army Chief amid the ongoing standoff with China. He is said to be taking stock of the preparedness of the Indian Army deployed at the LAC. He will also inaugurate some roads constructed by the BRO. In fact, the Defence Minister's office tweeted and said, "Rajnath Singh will make a three-day visit to Ladakh from Sunday. He will inaugurate some infrastructure projects prepared by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and interact with the troops deployed in the area.''

Rajnath Singh's visit to Army Chief General MM Narwane comes at a time when India and China have held a new round of diplomatic talks two days ago to resolve the military standoff that began in May last year. Some sources say, "The Defence Minister will take stock of the high altitude base and different military structures in eastern Ladakh and also boost the morale of the jawans deployed along the Line of Actual Control.''

Moreover, sources said, the Defence Minister will be briefed in detail about the entire situation at the 14th Corps headquarters of the Indian Army at Leh, which has been tasked with protecting the LAC in the Ladakh sector. This will reportedly be Rajnath Singh's first visit to eastern Ladakh after the Indian and Chinese armies withdrew troops, tanks and other equipment from the Pangong Lake area in February. Sources also informed that the Defence Minister will also visit the forward areas to take stock of some important infrastructure projects.
