New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is on a two-day visit to Assam today. During this period, he inaugurated 12 roads constructed near the border by Border Roads Organisation (BRO). This has been informed by the Ministry of Defence. In fact, in the meantime, he said, "Today, I am very happy to dedicate 12 road projects constructed by BRO to the nation simultaneously". At the same time, he also said, "The North-East did not develop for a long time. Now, the way the North-East has developed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is appreciated as much as it is".

"This area has strategic significance," he said. This area has borders with many countries. It is important from the point of view of development as well as security. These roads will greatly benefit the people living in these areas. This is part of the larger goal of our Government under the Act East Policy under which the Government is laying a lot of emphasis on the overall development of border areas. A large number of strategically important bridges and roads have been completed in the borders. Rajnath further said, 'Budget has been increased three to four times to develop road projects and other infrastructure during the last seven years. The security situation here has improved phenomenally in the last seven years. The insurgency related incidents have declined by 85 percent, and the casualty of civilians and security forces has come down considerably'.

At the same time, he also said, "Today, the reach of the farmers of this state has increased not only to the country but also to abroad. You may know that a short distance from here, there is a fruit in the Subansiri area, called 'Anteri'. People ate it a little by themselves, and put the rest of the animals. Two days ago, a year has passed since the incident took place in the Galwan Valley. The Indian Army has sacrificed its valour by showing its valour. I salute his valour and memory".
