New Delhi: In Modi government 2.0, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will fly in the Rafale fighter jet on October 8 in France's capital Paris. Giving information on Thursday, official sources said that the Defense Minister will take the flight at the base of the French Air Force. Sources have said that Rajnath Singh will leave for a three-day visit to Paris on 7 October, where the first Rafale fighter jet will be handed over to India on the foundation day of the Indian Air Force on 8 October.

Significantly, according to the deal between India and France, France will hand over a total of 36 Rafale fighter jets to India. Sources said that Rajnath Singh will take flight after acquiring the aircraft. The event will be attended by French high military officials as well as senior officials of Dassault Aviation, a company producing Rafale. Singh will hold extensive discussions with top French defense officials on October 9 on measures to enhance defense and security cooperation between the two nations.

Sources said that a high-level contingent of the Indian Air Force has already reached Paris to coordinate the program with the French authorities. India signed an agreement with France in 2016 to purchase 36 fighter jets for Rs 58,000 crore. These aircraft are capable of carrying large quantities of powerful weapons and missiles.
