Dehradun: President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday evening appointed new governors in several states. Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Seni) has been made the new Governor of Uttarakhand on Thursday following the resignation of Baby Rani Maurya. Tamil Nadu Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has been appointed as the new Governor of Punjab. While Nagaland Governor RN Ravi has been appointed as the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, on the other hand, has been given an additional charge of Nagaland.

On the other hand, several plains and hilly areas including Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, received heavy rainfall on Thursday night.
