Dehradun: After the police lathi-charged students in Dehradun yesterday, the Unemployed Union has now announced Uttarakhand bandh today. The union has asked students and the unemployed to come out of their homes and protest against the administration. At the same time, the administration has imposed Section 144 near the Ghanta Ghar.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the Chief Secretary to conduct a detailed magisterial inquiry into the law and order situation in the capital Dehradun. After examining all the facts and circumstances, a detailed inquiry report will be made available to the government. Last evening, candidates of competitive examinations had protested in Dehradun, who were lathi-charged by the police. Now the Chief Minister has given instructions to investigate this whole matter.

Know the whole controversy:-

Candidates and unemployed union activists protested at Gandhi Bagh in Dehradun late on Wednesday evening against the paper leak and other irregularities in the recruitment examinations in Uttarakhand. This led to a heated argument between the protesters and the police. Police brought the situation under control and arrested Bobby Panwar, president of the Unemployed Association. The next day, on Thursday, the matter took a worse form. Thousands of unemployed and competitive students gathered on the streets of Dehradun and raised slogans against the administration and protested. The students said they would not return home until there was a CBI inquiry into the job paper fraud. The students clashed with the police, after which the police resorted to lathi-charge on the protesters. Several pictures surfaced in which the police ran and beat up the candidates and chased away the crowd. Now CM Dhami has ordered an inquiry into this entire episode.
