On Saturday morning, residents of the national capital breathed a sigh of relief. Delhi's air was much cleaner on Saturday morning than before. The overall air quality index (AQI) improved, reaching 121 by 7:40 am center-wise. According to the Air Quality Index and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), overall concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 peaked at 66 and 131, respectively, both falling in the 'medium' category.

The air quality was not good in Delhi and the surrounding areas. AQI was running around 300, which falls in the very poor category. In such a situation, reaching the level of AQI 121, there is news of relief for Delhiites.
Chandani Chowk, the popular market of Old Delhi, which had been struggling with the 'very poor' category of air quality for the past several weeks, has also seen improvement. The 'bad' category of air pollution has been recorded here for some time, but 244 AQIs were recorded here on Saturday. The air quality in Dhirpur, Pusa and Lodhi Road was in the 'medium' category with 173, 108 and 131 respectively. In many places like Delhi University, IIT Delhi, Indira Gandhi International Airport and Mathura Road, the high level of PM10 was recorded with 116, 125, 126 and 116 with AQA respectively, which falls in the 'medium' category.
