Delhi airport authorities announces shocking decision amid CORONA surge

New Delhi: The T2 terminal of Delhi's international airport has been decided to be closed from Monday midnight due to the significant reduction in the number of flights. The second wave of corona epidemic has made states go for lockdown-like situation due to which traveling has been baned. Sources have informed about the same reason.

Sources said all flights will operate from Terminal T3 from Monday midnight. The authorities said that at present about 325 aircraft are operating daily at delhi airport. Before the epidemic hit, 1500 flights operated from here every day. As per the data analyst, the average number of passengers per day at Delhi airport in February was about 1.15 lakh which has come down to about 30,000 per day in the second wave of epidemic. The Delhi airport has taken this decision at a time when India and its aviation sector are badly affected by the second wave of epidemic. According to data from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the daily number of domestic air passengers in India, which used to be more than 2.2 lakh, has now come down to about 75,000. Similarly, international air traffic has also been affected by the second wave of epidemic.

The number of infected people in the country increased to 2,49,65,463 on Monday after 2,81,386 new corona cases were reported in India. These are the least new cases reported in a day in the last 27 days. The death toll rose to 2,74,390 after the infection killed 4,106 people.
