
NEW DELHI: The swearing-in ceremony for Delhi’s new Chief Minister and cabinet will take place at Ramlila Maidan tomorrow, February 20 at 11 am. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena will administer the oath at 12.35 pm.
The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and several Union Ministers. Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from Non Democratic Alliaince-ruled states will also be present.
The BJP has appointed MP Ravi Shankar Prasad and party Secretary Om Prakash Dhankar as observers for electing the leaders of the Delhi BJP Legislature Party.
BJP Celebrates Victory, Takes a Dig at AAP
BJP leader Tarun Chugh called the swearing-in ceremony a historic moment for Delhi. He also took a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party, saying that Delhi’s people had punished a TYRANT RULER for misleading them.
"People have shown their support for prime Minister Narendra Modi, and their blessings have turned into a clear mandate. Tomorrow, Delhi will witness a historic event at Ramlila Maidan," Chugh said. He also said that under PM Modi’s leadership, Delhi would be developed into a world-class capital.
"The real VIPs at this ceremony will be the common people of Delhi. They will be here to bless PM Modi and the new cabinet," he added.
Possible Speaker for New Assembly
Meanwhile, BJP leader Mohan Singh Bisht was asked about his chances of being chosen as the Speaker of the Assembly. He responded, "The party will decide. If I am given the responsibility, I will ensure the House runs smoothly and raises key issues for Delhi."
Big Celebrations Planned
The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by leaders from 20 states, senior BJP officials, and foreign diplomats. Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu is also expected to attend.
BJP won the Delhi elections after 27 years, securing 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP managed only 22 seats. To celebrate this major victory, the party has planned a grand event, including a musical performance before the oath-taking.
Who Might Be the Next Delhi CM?
There are several strong contenders for the Chief Minister’s post:-
Parvesh Verma: A key name in the race, he gained prominence after defeating former CM Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat.
Satish Upadhyay: Former Delhi BJP president and an experienced leader.
Ashish Sood: Another strong candidate.
Jitendra Mahajan: A potential choice for the position.
Vijender Gupta: Also being considered by the party.
Rekha Gupta: If the BJP decides to pick a female leader, the former Delhi Mayor and first-time MLA could be a possibility
