Delhi Chief Minister once again announced that Delhi  Schools would not reopen as of now, neither he shared the date of the reopening. He ruled out all news of school reopening in the national capital. "Schools are not reopening for now," he underlined. The CM’s decision came after 2500 parents in Delhi sent a representation to the chief minister, not to reopen schools in the territory of Delhi. Earlier, the government had announced that schools would remain closed till October 31 considering the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools, colleges, and universities across the country have been closed since March 16, 2020, since the Centre announced a countrywide classroom shutdown.

Deputy Chief Minister of Government of NCT of Delhi, earlier tweeted that all schools in Delhi will remain closed till October 31 due to Corona. CM Kejriwal said that as a parent, he understands the gravity of the situation. At this time it will not be suitable to take any risk regarding the health of children. While many restrictions have been eased in different phases of unlocking, educational institutions continue to remain closed. However, as per unlock phase guidelines, states can take a call about re-opening schools in phases.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier passed the orders for schools to reopen after October 15, 2020. However, educational institutions' authorities and state governments are allowed to make their own option depending on the condition of the pandemic in the state to either reopen the schools or continue with online classes. Schools and colleges were allowed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to call students on a voluntary basis from September 21, 2020, but the Delhi government decided against it.
