A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until July 3 in connection with the excise policy case. The decision was made by the Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday.

Kejriwal appeared before the court via video conference as his previous custody term was set to expire. During the session, he chose not to make a statement, deferring to his lawyers to speak on his behalf. The court, presided over by Vacation judge Nyay Bindu, had previously denied his bail on June 7 following a response from the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

In addition to Kejriwal, the court also extended the judicial custody of Vinod Chauhan to the same date. Earlier, Kejriwal's interim bail request, citing medical reasons, was denied, although the court instructed Tihar Jail authorities to ensure he received the necessary medical tests and treatment.

Kejriwal was originally arrested on March 21 for alleged irregularities in the excise policy. He was granted interim bail on May 10 to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, with the condition that he would surrender by June 2.
