However, The Delhi High Court issued summons to Bear Grylls and others on Friday on a suit filed by an Indian script writer claiming his copyright in the original literary work was infringed by the show ‘Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls’.
The suit is by an Indian scriptwriter who claimed that the show Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls had allegedly violated his copyright in the original literary work. Arman Shankar Sharma by scriptwriter Arrman who claimed had Bear Grylls had allegedly violated his original copyrighted script Aakhri Dum Takk-Till the Last Breath by airing the reality series Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls. Advocate Pravin Anand testified on behalf of Grylls before Justice Amit Bansal's single-judge bench that his client told him on Friday
The court questioned and said, "You woke up after 10 years?" In response, he said that the show had only recently begun airing in India and that "at least in India, they (Grylls and the broadcasters) must not proceed further”. However, the court declared that his client was entitled to damages as a remedy.
The scriptwriter said, "The locations mentioned in the said work are the same as that of the said infringing show. The entry, interval, climax and the concept of the show was based upon and filmed in the manner so narrated and formulated by Plaintiff in his original copyrighted script which was submitted to Defendant No. 3 (Discovery), keeping defendant No. 1 (Grylls) as the program`s host.”
