New Delhi: The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has determined to permit public celebrations of Chhath Puja in Delhi, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has announced.

The BJP in Delhi has rejoiced after DDMA decided to grant permission for Chhath Puja celebrations in the national capital. Northeast Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari said, "I am out of words but extremely happy and at the same time thankful to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, DDMA, Chhath samitiyan (committees) and BJP amongst others who stood united against the restrictions on our festival. I congratulate them all".

Adesh Kumar Gupta, the BJP's Delhi president, said, "We applaud the DDMA's decision regarding Chhath Puja. It was only possible because of our party's never-ending struggle. Tiwari announced a special vaccination drive for people performing Chhath Puja next month on Monday. His party, which controls all three of Delhi's municipal corporations (MCDs), has also directed its councillors to begin cleaning the ghats and making necessary preparations at locations where the puja is usually held.

The DDMA's order was announced Wednesday afternoon by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. "According to experts, the Covid-19 situation in the city is under control. As a result, it was decided at the meeting that Chhath Puja will be celebrated in the national capital in accordance with all Covid-19 guidelines "During a press conference, Sisodia stated.
