The Election Commission of India begins counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly elections 2025. The results will reveal whether it will be a fourth term for Arvind Kejriwal or will the Bhartiya Janata Party return to power after a period of 27 years.
AAP rose to power in 2015 and then again dominant in 2020. It won 67 seats in 2015 and 62 in 2020 respectively. BJP will hope for coming to power nearly after three decades. While, Congress has been out of power since 2013.
As of now, the results are quite surprising with AAP’s big names lacking behind on their seats. This includes Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who is contesting from New Delhi, Aatishi from Tarkaji and Manish Sisodiya from Jangpura. Parvesh Verma is ahead of Arvind Kejriwal in early trends. In 2015, Arvind Kejriwal defeated Nupur Sharma in 2015.
BJP is leading from Chandni Chowk, Narela, Lakshmi Nagar, Delhi Kent, Janakpuri, Bijwasan, Karawal Nagar, Silampur, Motinagar, Rajauri Garden, Malviya Nagar, Okhla (Muslim dominant constituency), Ballimaran (where BJP hasn't won till now).Â
While AAP’s Sakur Jain is leading from Shakur Basti.
Congress is also now in the run, starting with a lead in one seat from Guradi.
Firstly, there is a count of postal ballots then there will be of the EVM (Electronic Voting Machines). EVM is also opened now. And it is visible that BJP is leading in the postal ballot counting just a few seats away from crossing the majority mark to attain power. Â
The voting began by 8:00 am and results will likely emerge in afternoon.
