The exit polls of the 70 - member legislative assembly of Delhi are predicting BJP emerging victorious and forming a government in the capital. Early trends show that BJP is winning 48 seats, all set to return to power in the capital after a long period of 27 years. It is clearly edging above the majority mark of 36 seats.

The heated political battle is going to commence today, revealing the future of Delhi’s governance, moreover, the implications of which will lie on National politics as well.

The party face Arvind Kejriwal is trailing behind with 1800 votes after 10 rounds. While the current Chief minister Aatishi is also behind from the Kalkaji constituency with almost 2,500 votes against BJP rival Ramesh Bidhuri. Saurabh Bharadwaj and Gopal Rai are leading form their respective constituencies of Greater Kailash and Babarpur. Manish Sisodiya was also lacking behind and has now lost in the Jangpura constituency.

Let us call it a do or die situation, a make or break battle for Kejriwal and his once dominating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that has been serving since two consecutive terms. Earlier, they were not able to cross 30 seats and are now restricted at 22 only. Once in power, Congress is perishing in the capital not even able to secure a single seat.

The BJP’s campaign was primarily centered around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Ramesh Bidhuri while saying that AAP will be ‘eliminated’ from Delhi declared, “The people will give BJP a decisive mandate. Under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, Delhi will progress along with the rest of the country. I can confidently say that AAP will be eliminated from Delhi capital.”

With this, all trends show that BJP is leading and is all set to form the Government, making a comeback after nearly three decades. Even though AAP has narrowed the gap a bit but the trens now show it behind with a lead in 24 seats. This gives BJP still a significant lead. The party has already begun with celebrations setting to register a historic victory in Delhi elections. After 1993, the BJP is going to form its government after 27 long years.
