The transport department of the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi has recommended an increase in the road tax on these vehicles.

Media reports quoting official sources said that the transport department has proposed to increase the road tax on some categories of vehicles. It also includes cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles. In such a situation, the prices of these trains may increase in the coming time.

Proposal sent to the Finance Department:-

The proposal to increase the road tax has been sent to the finance department by the transport department, a decision on this may be taken soon. Once approved, the transport department will plan it in detail. The department has set a target of raising Rs 2,000 crore from various taxes and duties in the financial year 2022-23.

According to the tax increase model:-

At present, there is a road tax of 4% to 12.5% on private vehicles in Delhi. At the same time, if the car is taken in the name of a company, then it increases to 25 percent. It is determined by the model, fuel type and price range of the car. If there is an increase in road tax, it will also be on the same basis.
