Retired Delhi Election Commissioner gets a strange notice to vacate his house

New Delhi: The Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government has sent a notice to IAS officer SK Srivastava, who retired from the post of state election commissioner on Wednesday, to vacate his official residence on Wednesday. Interestingly, S.K. Srivastava received this notice on the 20th, and the notice asks him to vacate the house only by April 20. If they don't, they'll have to pay damages.

S K Srivastava was allotted government accommodation bungalow no. 2, Satya Sadan, Madhu Limaye Marg, Chanakya Puri during his tenure as the State Election Commissioner. Srivastava's name had hit the headlines when he postponed the announcement of election dates for the three municipal corporations in Delhi during a press conference at the State Election Commission in March.

Srivastava had said that he had received a letter from the central government and in the light of this, the announcement of election dates has been postponed. Now, this action of the Kejriwal government of Delhi is being seen as linked to the act of revenge, otherwise, everyone is given some time to vacate the house. After Srivastava retires, his place will be taken by former retired Chief Secretary Vijay Dev of the Delhi government. Dev will take over as Delhi's state election commissioner on Thursday.
