New Delhi: Pollution has always been a serious problem in Delhi-NCR. This pollution increases even more at the time of harvesting of crops. Due to stubble burning by farmers, the entire capital becomes smoky and pollution levels become fatal. To avoid such a situation, the Arvind Kejriwal government has started preparations to spray bio-decomposers free of cost in the fields for stubble burning.

Kejriwal's Development Minister Gopal Rai has held a joint meeting with top officials of the Development Department, Revenue Department and Indian Agricultural Research Institute (Pusa) regarding the spraying of bio-decomposers for free. After the meeting, Development Minister Gopal Rai informed that the government will spray bio-decomposers free of cost in all basmati and non-basmati paddy fields within Delhi. Instructions have been given to the Agriculture Department to fill the form from the farmers soon regarding the spraying of bio-decomposer. This form will include the details of the farmer, how many acres of land he wants to spray and the time of harvesting. Farmers will also enter the date of spraying in the form so that spraying arrangements can be made in their field accordingly.

According to Gopal Rai, a helpline number for farmers will also be issued by the Development Department this year. A training programme on the spraying of free bio-decomposers will also be held at the Delhi Secretariat on September 10. Along with this, instructions have also been given to conduct an awareness campaign about the spraying of bio-decomposers among farmers in Delhi itself.
