In view of corona pandemic, The transport department of the Delhi government has extended the validity of documents till March 31, 2021. This decision has been taken in accordance with a recent advisory of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
An order issued by the transport said that the documents including driving licence, all types of permits, registration, vehicle fitness among others that had expired on February 1, 2020 or would expire on December 31, 2020, will be treated as valid till March 31, 2021.
Meanwhile, In a bid to offer safety in cars, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Tuesday proposed to make airbags for front passenger mandatory. According to a draft notification prepared by the Transport Ministry, the Centre plans to implement this safety norm for all new models of cars which are manufactured from April 1, 2021, onwards. And, for already existing units, the date for complying with the new rule is proposed to be June 1, 2021.
