New Delhi: Over 8 lakh migrant workers have returned home in the first four weeks of the lockdown imposed in the national capital Delhi to tackle the second wave of corona. A report of the Government of Delhi has given information in this regard. According to the report, half of the 8 lakh (3,79,604) workers left Delhi in the first week and returned home.

However, the Delhi government says that buses and other arrangements were made for the labourers this time to avoid the trouble that happened like last year. The state transport department report said, "Timely coordination by the Delhi government with transport officials from neighbouring states, especially Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, has helped about eight lakh migrant labourers reach their destination without any difficulty. No complaint of overcharging was received as the ownership and operation of inter-state buses was with the concerned State Governments".

The report further stated that the highest rush of passengers between 3 ISBT was observed at Anand Vihar ISBT (689,642 passengers). These buses were arranged by the Governments of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand especially for migrant labourers.
