New Delhi: In the midst of the corona epidemic, another problem is looming over Delhi's head. Cases of vector-borne diseases are increasing in Delhi. According to the latest data released by the three municipal corporations, 73 cases of dengue, malaria and chikungunya have been reported in the city so far. Of the total 73 cases, 38 are from malaria, 22 are from dengue and the remaining 13 are from chikungunya.
However, officials are quite optimistic about this figure. He believes that the situation is under control as the figure is 30 percent lower than the previous year. By this time in the city, 107 cases of dengue, malaria and chikungunya had been reported in 2019. IRA Singhal, Additional Municipal Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation said, "The situation is under control and we are ready to deal with it in the coming days."
Singhal also said that MCD employees are taking all measures to prevent this havoc. He said, "Measures to check mosquito breeding in homes, fogging, anti-larval spray etc. are being taken. Apart from this, we are also running awareness programs to make people aware." Singhal also said that the MCD is continuously conducting inspection operations. Those people or establishments are being punished where mosquito breeding sites are being found. According to the data, corporations have so far issued 11,942 legal notices and 106 cases against violators.
