NEW DELHI: On Friday, a depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal headed north-northwestwards towards the coast of Tamil Nadu, where it is expected to develop into a deep depression, delivering rainfall to the state's and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh's coastal areas.

During the next 12 hours, it is expected to deepen further into a deep depression, move north-northwestwards off the east coast of Sri Lanka till March 5 am, and then move west-northwestwards towards the north Tamil Nadu Coast during the next 48 hours.
Later on Friday, light to moderate rainfall or isolated thundershowers are likely over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema, followed by similar light to moderate rainfall, thundershowers at a few places, and isolated heavy rainfall over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on Saturday.
