New Delhi: The Ministry of Aviation has approved to serve food again in domestic and international flights. The Aviation Ministry has also issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for this. After getting permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, airlines will now serve pre-packed meals to passengers during the flight. Passengers will now be able to get pre-packed meals, or drinks or hot food as before the corona crisis in flights.

Till now, according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Aviation, serving food in domestic and international flights was prohibited. But now with the assurance of better management of flights, the government has allowed airlines to serve fresh food and snacks in a safe manner. However, in the wake of the ongoing Corona crisis, detailed guidelines have been issued to provide standards for serving in airlines so that there is no negligence in health security.

The government has asked airline companies to use disposable plates, cutlery and set-up plates, which will not be used again. Tea, coffee and other beverages will be served in disposable glasses, bottles, cans and containers. Along with this, the crew will have to wear a new set of gloves to serve any meal and drink. Along with the announcement of food, the government has also given approval for 'in-flight' entertainment for domestic and international flights. The government has asked the airlines to ensure that disposable earphones are used, or that clean and germ-free earphones are provided to passengers.
