Everyone is familiar with the festival of Dhanteras, although many types of stories are also popular about it. The importance of Dhanteras can also be clearly understood from mythology. It is also necessary to know about the story of this festival. Know what is the mythology of Dhanteras?

This story is related to Lord Vishnu and Shukracharya, the guru of Asuras. Once Vishnu had broken an eye of Shukracharya. This day was the day of Trayodashi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month and its reason was to interrupt the work of the gods by Shukracharya.

According to the legend, Lord Vishnu appeared on earth as Vamana avatar to relieve the gods from the terror of King Bali. Once King Bali was performing a big yagna, during this time, Vishnu ji reached the sacrificial fire place in Vamana avatar. During this period, Shukracharya recognized Vishnu and told the king that whatever Vamana demands, his demand should not be fulfilled. Shukracharya explicitly told King Bali that it is the form of Vamana Sakshat Shri Vishnu and he has come here to help the gods, though King Bali ignored the things of Shukracharya.

The whole history is a witness, everyone is bowed down before what happened. Vamana demanded three steps of land from King Bali but Shukracharya again asked King Bali not to fulfill this demand. In the Vamana avatar, Shri Vishnu started taking pledges by taking water from the kamandal to donate three feet of land, but only then Shukracharya entered the subtle form of Vamana ji's kamandal and stopped the water contained in the kamandal. Lord Vaman, while teaching Shukracharya, broke one of his eyes within the kamandal. Shukracharya immediately came out of the kamandal.

As soon as Shukracharya came out, King Bali started giving three steps to Vaman Ji. Where Shri Vishnu measured the earth in the first step and the sky in the second step. King Bali was well acquainted with Shri Vishnu now. Now there was one step left and King Bali had no way, in such a situation, King Bali sacrificed his head for the third step at the feet of Shri Vishnu. In this way, the Gods were freed from the terror of King Bali and the property that was snatched from Bali by the gods was reclaimed to the gods. On this occasion, we celebrate the main festival of Dhanteras in India.
