Dhanush is one of the most loved actors in the South Industry. He has been featured in various Blockbuster films. The Tamil-Telugu bilingual film Vaathi us all set to hit the theatre screen today.  Let us have a quick review of the film.

Story of Vaathi

 Dhanush plays the role of Bala Murugan, a teacher in a government school. He works as an assistant teacher. After the state government introduces a new bill, which forces private schools to take over government-funded schools, Thirupathi assigns three third-grade assistant teachers from his institute and sends them to teach in a government school in a remote village.  He tells the story of a government junior Maths lecturer who goes all the way to educate the underprivileged students of a village against corporate exploitation.

Dhanush is one of the lecturers who is sent as a faculty. He falls in love with a teacher played by Samyuktha who believes that they will do some good for the college. Dhanush starts fighting against the education mafia, when he realizes the real intention of sending them to rural areas. The movie is all about fighting with the circumstance and unfair practices.

Vaathi Review

Dhanush as obviously plays the role very well. He makes effort by making good education accessible to everyone, and connects on an emotional level. You sometimes you may feel film is less effective or similar to various other films. The story takes a very familiar trope and turns it on its head to send audiences home on a high.The film does allow Dhanush to play to the gallery in a few instances but the story never glorifies his character. Samyuktha plays her part well and manages and plays her role. However, her screen timing is very less but she managed to deliver performance effectively.  Overall the film is good to watch, however, nothing is extraordinary.

Speaking about the film, Vaathi is directed by Venky Atluri, the film has been simultaneously shot in Telugu and Tamil. It’s titled SIR in Telugu. Both versions of the film will release worldwide on February 17.
