In the most recent development in state politics, the BJP has put the municipal election lists for Dibrugarh, Chabua, Namrup, and Naharkatia on hold till further information becomes available.

The state BJP has requested the BJP district committee to put the list on hold till further information is available. On Sunday, the BJP's Dibrugarh district committee announced a list of 22 candidates for Dibrugarh against 22 wards, 10 for Chabua against 10 wards, 8 for Namrup against 10 wards, and 9 for Naharkatia against 10 wards.

The list would be republished after receiving confirmation from the state body, according to Jagadish Rajkonwar, President of the BJP's Dibrugarh district committee.   In the municipal election in Dibrugarh, however, there would be no alliance between the BJP and the AGP. In addition, the AGP will unveil its candidates in Dibrugarh.

There would be no coalition with the BJP in Dibrugarh, according to Aditya Goswami, AGP district President in Dibrugarh, because the BJP has announced candidates for all 22 seats. He stated that the party will declare its own candidates for the Dibrugarh Municipal Board election.
