Jammu: The conspiracy to carry out a major attack has been foiled after three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed in an encounter at Sopore in Baramulla town of north Kashmir on Sunday. This is why a major disaster has been averted. DIG North Kashmir Range (NKR) Suleman Chaudhary has claimed this. The death of terrorists has eradicated a major danger.

"We had input and the kind of weapons we got from them, it seems that these people were planning a big attack. Their annihilation is a major achievement for the security forces. 3 AK rifles, 9 AK magazines, 145 bullets, 3 pouches, 1 grenade, 1 Soldier Knife and other types of items have been received from the three terrorists killed in the encounter on Sunday. Two Pakistanis were also included in these. They were identified as Usman Bhai alias Abu Rafia and Saifullah. Both the terrorists were active for the last two years.

DIG said in his statement, "About 35-40 foreign terrorists and 16-17 local terrorists are active in North Kashmir at this time. This figure keeps on fluctuating. There are about 7-10 such terrorists who infiltrated from Bandipora and Kupwara sectors a few months ago and came to this. There has been a huge decrease in the graph for the recruitment of local youth in terrorist organizations. Around 11 youth were involved in terrorism and 4 of them were arrested. Four youngsters were involved in terrorism, out of which three have been killed. All this has happened with the help of people."
