Dilip Kumar needs no introduction. He is one of the the first superstars in Bollywood. The actor is considered one of the greatest actors of Indian cinema. He startedhis career in 1944.Dilip Kumar remained in news not only for his professional but also for his tragic personal life.

Dilip Kumar aka Yusuf Khan  was Born on 11 December 1922. Dilip Kumar made his debut in the year 1944 with the film Jwar Bhata. He always remained in news for his love life.  His first love was Devika Rani. She hired Dilip Kumar in her studio Bombay Talkies for Rs 1250 a month. Explaining the reason for changing his name he once said, 'One day Devika Rani called me to her cabin and said, Yusuf, I want to launch you as an actor. You must have a screen name. I think Dilip Kumar is a good name.”

Dilip Kumar and Madhubala's love story was one of the most popular love stories in Bollywood. The two first met in 1951 on the sets of 'Tarana'. Their relationship was not approved by Madhubala's father. the BR Chopra and Madhubala had a rift during the shooting of Naya Daur. BR Chopra dragged Madhubala to court. Dilip Kumar testified against Madhubala in the court. Their love story remained unfulfilled.

Dilip Kumar married Saira Banu in the year 1966. Saira Banu once in an  interview said, 'The day we were getting engaged, his ex-girlfriend had consumed sleeping pills.' Dilip left the engagement in middle and went to the hospital. He then make her understand that he love Saira. After  this Dilip return to the engagement party.

On the career front, Dilip Kumar was the first actor to receive a Filmfare Best Actor Award and holds the record for most number of Filmfare Awards won for that category. He was famous for films like Andaz (1949) with the swashbuckling Aan (1952), the dramatic Devdas (1955) with the comical Azaad (1955) and the historical romance Mughal E Azam (1960).
