Dilip Kumar was born in Peshawar district of Pakistan. His father Lala Ghulam Sarwar Khan was a fruit trader. After that his family came to Mumbai and he worked as a fruit in Mumbai also. He was known as a big fruit trader in Mumbai. For this reason, Dilip Kumar also joined hands in his father's business and traded fruits. According to a report received, one day dilip kumar went to Pune when he heard something from his father. According to the report, knowing English, he got a job as an assistant in the British Army canteen in Pune.

However, after a few days he returned to Mumbai and worked with his father. It is not that Dilip Kumar flopped in the fruit business, he succeeded here as in the world of cinema. The report said that his father had gone to Nainital and tasked him to buy a sev garden and Dilip Kumar had entered into the agreement on an advance payment of only Rs 1. He then turned to films and got work in the 1944 film Jwar Bhata. This was followed by Dilip Kumar's hit movies with the 1947 movie Jugnu after the failures of several movies.
