In today's time, girls are no less than boys and every girl does something that is surprising to keep her father and mother happy. 35-year-old Ankita Shah of Ahmedabad is an inspiration for everyone.  Ankita is a disabled person and due to polio in childhood doctors had to cut her right leg, but even after this, she has been driving an auto rickshaw for the treatment of her cancer-stricken father for the last 6 months. She is the first disabled Auto Rickshaw driver of Ahmedabad.

An island where no one has been going for 45 years

Ankita, a graduate from Economics, is the eldest of five siblings and she came to Ahmadabad in 2012 and started working in a call center, but for her father's treatment, she decided to leave this job and run an auto-rickshaw. Today she drives a rickshaw. Ankita herself says, "I used to get 12,000 rupees in a 12-hour shift. When I came to know that my father has cancer, I would have to go from Ahemdabad to Surat repeatedly for his treatment and would have difficulty in getting leave. So I decided to quit my job".

With this, she said, "In the beginning I was scared, It was difficult to maintain the house. I was sorry for not being able to help my father with his treatment. So I decided to do something on my own. Interviewed in many companies. But for the corporate people, my disability was a problem. I started driving auto". She told, "I learned to drive an autorickshaw from my friend Lalji Barot, he is also a disabled and drives an autorickshaw. He not only taught me to drive auto but also helped me get my customized auto, which has a hand-operated brake".  Ankita now runs auto for 8 hours auto and earns 20 thousand rupees a month and helps her family. She is a real hero who knows who to fight in difficult situations.
