New Delhi: Confusion over Delhi's excise policy is not diminishing. Due to this confusion, suddenly there were long lines at the liquor shops in Delhi on Saturday. People felt that if the old policy comes back from August 1, it may have an effect on the prices of liquor for a few days. In view of this, now the government has decided that the policy currently running will be extended further for 1 month i.e. for the month of August. That is, the discount offer will continue.

If the same government sources are to be believed, then the news was coming to them that if this old policy is implemented suddenly, then people will start panicking. In view of this, the officers took the decision late on Saturday evening that the policy which is currently running should be extended for 1 month. However, its official order is yet to come.

In fact, on Saturday morning, Delhi's Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said in a press conference that in the midst of the current controversy, Delhi would again implement the policy before November 2021. That is, government liquor contracts will run again in Delhi and private contracts will stop. But to do so would require a cabinet order and that would take some time for the time being. If sources are to be believed, it will take no less than 48 hours for the cabinet to take a decision and get the notification through its Lieutenant Governor. That is, the deadline of August 1 will be crossed in taking the decision itself. After the notification, it will take a few days to implement it and reopen the government shops. Meaning by then the confusion will increase further and there may be chaos in Delhi. In view of all this, it has been decided that the existing liquor policy should be allowed to continue till the month of August, so that time can be given to implementing the decisions. At the same time, the consumers should also not face any problems.
