On Saturday, RS Bharti of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu was arrested by the Chennai Police. The Rajya Sabha MP is accused of making a controversial statement against the Scheduled Castes (SC). He reportedly gave a speech against the Scheduled Caste community in the month of February this year.

A case has been registered against MP RS Bharti under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989. A case has been registered against the DMK leader at two police stations in Chennai.

Apart from this, 14,753 cases of Coronavirus have been reported in Tamil Nadu so far. Here 98 people have died due to coronavirus, while 7128 patients have been cured.
