Corona infection is spread on one side in India. The DMK, on the other hand, filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking direction to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal to immediately take a decision on his pending petition disqualifying the 11 MLAs of AIADMK (AIDMK). These MLAs had voted against Chief Minister K Palaniswami during the trust vote in 2017. DMK's plea to disqualify him is pending with the Speaker of the Assembly from March 20, 2017.

DMK has filed this new petition through advocate Amit Anand Tiwari. In this, reference was made to the earlier order of the apex court, in which it disposed of the petition after knowing that the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly has initiated action on the petition for disqualification. The petition demanded that the decision not to be decided by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly be arbitrary and contrary to fundamental rights and constitutional standards. This petition has been filed in the Assembly by DMK whip R Sakkarpani.

A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bodbe rejected DMK M Chakrapani's petition. The petition sought disqualification of 11 AIADMK MLAs. The DMK disqualified 11 AIADMK MLAs who voted against the Chief Minister's Palanislami in the 2017 trust vote in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, while hearing in the Supreme Court, Speaker of the Assembly P. Dhanapal was reprimanded. The court had asked the speaker why there was no action on disqualification petitions against 11 MLAs in three years.
