Chennai: In the early hours of Thursday, the Madipakkam police detained seven persons, including an AIADMK functionary and his driver, near Samayapuram in connection with the death of a DMK man on Tuesday night.

While Radhakrishnan and his driver were apprehended at the Samayapuram tollgate, the five others were apprehended by a Vikravandi police team while attempting to flee in a car at the Vikravandi toll plaza, according to police sources.

Following early investigations, authorities believe Radhakrishnan was involved in the murder of C Selvam, a DMK functionary, over a land dispute. He may have enlisted the aid of henchmen to carry out the crime. However, authorities have yet to determine a specific motive in the crime.
