CHENNAI,: Rakesh Ilango, the son of DMK Rajya Sabha member N.R. Ilango, died in a car accident early Thursday morning, while his companion was critically injured. The accident occured on the East Coast Road near Kottakuppam

The collision happened at Kottakuppam on the East Coast Road. The vehicle in which they were riding hit the divider at Kil Puthupet near Kottakuppam on the East Coast Road early Thursday, March 10, 2022, killing DMK Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from Vellore N.R. Elango's son Rakesh and critically injuring his friend. Around 3.45 a.m., the accident occurred.

Rakesh and his friend were apparently on their way to Puducherry when their vehicle lost control and smashed into a road divider, according to police. Rakesh died on the spot as the vehicle flipped over, while his friend was critically injured.

A team from Kottakuppam hurried to the scene after receiving information and cut up the truck to extract Rakesh's body. The deceased's friend was taken to the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) at Kanagachettikulam, near Puducherry, with serious injuries.
